Hello crafters, time for a new challenge over at Crafting for all Seasons and we would like to see your Christmas cards.

Our sponsors are Meljens Designs and The Stamping Boutique who gave the DT some images to play with.

Here is my card using Jingle Bell from Meljens Designs

The image was coloured with promarkers, glittered and die cut. The papers were me to you bear freebies and the holly and leaves were  from my stash.

My second card is using  the Father Christmas image from the Stamp Boutique.

The image was die cut and coloured with promarkers, Father Christmas' fur was covered in flower soft and the snowflakes were glittered. The papers were more me to you bear freebies and I added some corners, ribbon, thread and a Christmas stocking embellishment.

Whoopsi Daisy Sparkle and Shine Challenge

This is the last Whoopsi Daisy Challenge for this year! Wow were does the time go? This week we want to see lots of Sparkle and Shine.

This card was a request from my daughter for her nephew, my grandson. She chose the image from one of Linnie's sheets and left the rest of the design to me.

I am still on my mision of using up the freebie backing papers in my stash and this one with the white random spots looking like snow complimented the image. As they were chopping down a tree it seemed appropriate to have a forest in the backgound! These were stamped using the masking technique and then embossed with glittery embossing powder.

The image was coloured with promarkers, the snow with watery china blue distress ink and dabbed with icicles stickles. Some tiny coloured gems were used on the tree image and clear star gems in the sky.

I have had these bells in my crafty stash forever and I have sewn them to crafters rope and wrapped it around the bottom. A sentiment finishes the card. Yeah! another card to cross off the list!.

Whoopsi Daisy Snowflakes Challenge

This week our challenge at Whoopsi Daisy is Use Your Snowflakes. There are snow many ways to do a card for this challenge and Linnie has lots of images to that can be used.

The Daisy Divas have made some brilliant cards, do pop over to the Whoopsi Daisy blog to see them.

My daughter asked me to make a Christmas card for my granddaughter (her niece) and she chose this image. It's so cute but then all Linnie's images are!

I coloured the snow and snowman with watered down china blue distress ink then some icicles stickles dabbed on. The rest of the image was coloured with promarkers, The dp was a magazine freebie and fitted the challenge perfectly. This was one of those cards that just seemed to fall into place, it's quite a simple design but the dp is so strong that it didn't need a lot of embellishment. To break up the dp a little I used a chiffon ribbon which had a purple edge but the centre was pale lilac and was lost but I overlaid it with the sparkly ribbon and added gems and was pleased with the effect. The snowflakes in the corners were dabbed with purple stickles, a die cut flourish, a greeting and job done!

Crafting for all Seasons #16 White on White

The bi weekly challenge over at Crafting for all Seasons is White on White for which I have made two cards as we have two sponsors.

My first card uses one of the images from Whoopsi Daisy and Linnie is offering a prize of 2 sheets of her images and each sheet has four images that's 8 images in total!

This is such a cute image from Whoopsi Daisy and the sentiment which was a freebie from Dee Designs is so appropriate to the image. The backing card was dry embossed with a musical notes embossing folder. I stamped a music score on vellum and embossed with white embossing powder and I made the flowers using ribbon and lace. The finishing touches were lace, a flourish, die cut leaves, stick pins and pearls.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
craft-roomchallenge.blogspot.com Make your own flowers
bunnyzoescrafts.blogspot.com/ Christmas with Pearls
theribbonreelchallenge.blogspot.com/ Anything Goes but use ribbon

My second card is using an image from Some Odd Girl and they are giving 3 digi images as a prize.

The image and mat were die cut and I stamped fairy lights around the mat to compliment those in the image. These were matted onto a dry embossed card, glitter card, pearlescent card and I created corners using narrow ribbon.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Anything Goes Challenge #55 Cutting Corners

The new challenge for Anything Goes is Cutting Corners (decorative/altered corners) and my fellow teamies have come up with some fab cards so do go visit the Anything Goes challenge blog to see their contributions.

I love the colour of this card, it's a gorgeous teal and I also had mirri in the same colour. The backing paper is another magazine freebie as is the
sentiment stamp. I have used  a gorgeous Nellie Snellen stamp which was coloured with promarkers, the matting was done using spellbinders nestabilities and the corners were cut with a Marianne die all from The Craft Den. A few gems, some teal ribbon and a bit of glitter to finish off.

This card has been entered in the following challenges:

Whoopsi Daisy White on White Challenge.

Our  challenge this week at Whoopsi Daisy is White on White and remember to be chosen as one of our top 3 you need to use a Whoopsi Daisy image but as Linnie does have freebies everyone can still enter.

Please note that with effect from January all crafters entering our challenges must use a Whoopsi Daisy image.

Last weeks challenge and blog hop was very popular and each Daisy Diva had candy for one lucky commentator on their blog. My winner using the random thingy:

 is........................Girl Scientist

who wins the fabulous sheet #72. Please let me have your email address so I can send you your prize. Have fun with the images.

Now back to this weeks challenge of White on White. This image is so cute.

I was a bit daunted by the white on white theme at first but I realised that by using texture and shapes this would distinguish the layers.

The base card has scalloped edges, the first mat is a pearlescent card and I have pierced all around the edge, the next mat again is pearlescent card which I have embossed with an embossing folder. The gorgeous image was coloured with my promarkers and die cut and matted onto another die cut. The same die was used for the base of the flowers which were punched out and formed into roses and these were tipped with stckles as were the stars on the image.  Die cut rose leaves, ribbon, beads, gems and some lace were added to finish the card.

Willow Sketchie Challenge

Two posts in one day, wow I am on a roll (not). Getting all my Christmas cards done and using the challenges as impetus to get on and not leave it til Christmas Eve as per usual.

The sketch challenge from Willow Designs is a nice simple sketch so very easy to follow - and this is my entry.

The only problem using mirri card is getting the light right! The image is from Whoopsi Daisy  and I have coloured it with my much loved promarkers and the tree has some gems to imitate fairy lights. In keeping with my mission to use all the freebie papers in my stash the backing papers are again from a magazine.

I've coloured him with my promarkers, used white flowersoft for the Fur on his hat and suit and star dust stickles for his wings and a little bit on his wand. The papers were freebies from a magazine - I am on a mission at the moment to use them as I save them and now have a huge mound of them!

I added red lacy ribbon, gold ribbon, red chiffon roses, hat pins I made using beads, and metal corners to finish.

Crafting for All Seasons Challenge #14

Challenge #14 over at Crafting for All Seasons is a Thanksgiving challenge but as those of us here in the UK do not celebrate this holiday we were given the choice to use a sketch and/or make a thank you card.

We were lucky enough to choose any image from our sponsor Bugaboo stamps and when I saw this one called Coffee Time Perfect Blend I knew exactly what I was going to use it for. It was our wedding anniversary last week and this was perfect for a card for my husband. This image is so cute and the text is appropriate.

The card is embellished with gems, ribbons, heart doilies, metal filigree corners and the backing papers are from a free cd (magazine freebie).

And this is the inside........

My fellow teamies have also picked some fab images, do go and take a look at the challenge blog.

This weeks Whoopsi Daisy Challenge is Colours of Winter and this is my DT card.

My daughter asked me to make a birthday card for her boss - she works part time for a fruit and vegetable stall on campus and has worked for Emma ever since she started at uni 3 years ago. I love this colour blue and it fits in with the challenge nicely.

The image is from one of Linnie's new sheets number 318 which has more images of sassy ladies. Pop over and have a look you are sure to fall in love with her digis. There is a buy one get one free offer on at the moment so go grab a bargain.

Whoopsi Daisy Tag It Challenge

Time for another challenge over at Whoopsie Daisy and this time we want you to use a Tag whether it is a stand alone tag or a tag on a card it's up to you. My teamies have come up with some amazing projects this week - quite breathtaking.

The rules of the challenge have changed slightly. There will be a top 3 and there is a winners logo to display on your blog also, the overall winner will be able to choose two of Linnie's sheets. Anyone can enter but only those using a Whoopsie Daisy digi will be considered for the top three. However,  Linnie frequently has a freebie on her site - in fact there is one there now and, not only that, she has a buy one get one free offer on, and there are always 4 digis on each sheet, a bargain at £1.99!  There are so many to choose from you will be spoilt for choice.

My DT project for the challenge is a tag on a card using one of the digis from sheet 72. A relatively simple card this time but sometimes I think less is more.

Crafting for all Seasons Texture Challenge #13

Our new challenge is Texture which gives us lots of options and we have two sponsors who generously gave the DT some images to play with.

The Paper Shelter have gorgeous cute digi images and lovely digi papers and we were spoilt for choice which to choose. I decided on Cute Dressmaker and used papers from the Pepe in Love set. They have a $20 Gift card for one lucky winner.

A while ago I bought some curtain swatches and I  used a piece of one on my card which matched the papers perfectly. The Tim Holtz stamp was ideal for creating a sewing pattern envelope, and I stamped some cotton reels and wrapped each with different coloured thread. I made a net skirt for the mannequin button, added a few buttons, lace, tape measure ribbon, a sewing machine button and brass scissors. Even though this is a cute image it still lent itself to this vintage treatment which coordinated nicely with the papers.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Our second sponsor is Meljen's Designs which is owned by Melissa Jenkins who illustrates whimsical images and  is offering a choice of four digi images to another lucky winner. I chose to use the singing snowmen.

The background was created using snowflake stamps which were embossed with white embossing powder for a resist technique. It was coloured using broken china distress ink. I embossed a piece of builders scrim  and topped it with some chiffon ribbon. The image was coloured using promarkers and broken china distress ink. The fur on the snowmen's hats and the snow flakes were covered in white flower soft, buttons and beads were added to two of the snowmen. The mat for the image was dry embossed with swiss dots. Metal corners and embellishments were added to complete the card.

Anything Goes #53 Challenge - Stitching real or faux

The new challenge at Anything Goes is stitching either real or faux. I made this card for my grandson's 2nd birthday - not that he was interested in the card - just his new toys! His mum keeps all the cards so maybe he'll appreciate it when he's older lol.

The stamp is a Molly Bloom stamp available from The Craft Den and the papers were freebies which I have had for ages. The netting is builders scrim which I embossed with a gorgeous blue embossing powder - very effective I must say.  I used the same embossing powder to triple emboss the chipboard letters and number. I added some blue raffia from my stash and the happy Birthday sentiment. Really pleased with the result even if Ben wasn't impressed!

Here is my interpretation of the sketch and I have used one of the images from sheet 315.

Fairy Magic at Whoopsi Daisy

Time for another challenge at Whoopsi Daisy and this week it's Fairy Magic. Linnie has lots of fairy images from cute to sophisticated. The image I have used was a freebie a few weeks ago, keep checking the Whoopsi Daisy site as Linnie often has a freebie.

When I saw this image it made me think of a fairy on top of a Christmas tree which gave me the idea for the card. It also has a look of my 3 year old granddaughter when she is showing me how she dances at dance classes so it seemed right to make this card for her. I made the Christmas tree with seed beads using brick stitch and the backing paper was a freebie from a magazine which I thought fitted the bill as the spots could be Christmas tree baubles.

Happy crafting.

Anything Goes Challenge #52 - To the Letter

The Anything Goes challenge this time around is To the Letter which can be interpreted in many different ways.
This is my take on it - a Key Holder Plaque, take a look at my workshop page for another version on the same theme.

This is a basic canvas frame onto which I have attached die cuts which have been cut using Tim Holtz Alterations dies. These were all painted using the gorgeous Paper Artsy Fresco Finish acrylic paints which have a lovely chalky finish. Most of the metal embellishments are Tim Holtz's from his ideology range. All these items are available from The Craft Den. A couple of cup hooks in the bottom painted to match and a Key Holder Plaque ready to be hung.

Free and Easy Whoopsie Daisy Challenge

This week is free and easy and as it is nigh on Christmas it seemed apt to make another Christmas card. This time I have used sheet 276 from Whoopsi Daisy, such a cute nativity scene. Linnie still has a buy one get one free offer on so do pop over to her blog and take a look.

I have kept this relatively simple - I am in a less is more frame of mind at the moment. Sometimes, I think the images can get lost in all the embellishments and there can be far too much going on. The papers are papermanias sheer elegance which were matted onto gold card stock. The star is chipboard which was painted gold and sprinkled with gold glitter, a bit of ribbon, a few gems and job done.

Please do visit my team mates blogs, they have created some beautiful cards.

Whoopsi Daisy Lets do Christmas Challenge

Hello, its time for another challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy and this time its Lets do Christmas and there are plenty of lovely images on Linnie's Blog and she has a buy one get one free offer on again.

I have used Linnie's sheet 292 and utilised all four images from the sheet to make a scene. Using watercolour card the sky was inked with dusty concord, faded jeans and chipped sapphire distress inks blended together. I misted the sky and then blotted it to give a snowy effect then sprayed with iridescent glitter. The snow drifts were strips of torn card which were coloured with broken china then tipped with icicles stickles . The images were all coloured using promarkers cut out and arranged on the background. The snow on the houses, trees and lamppost is dries white glue lightly sprinkled with silver glitter.

Well at least I have one christmas card made. It's a start anyway!

Crafting for all Seasons Fall Flowers Challenge

It's time for a new challenge over at Crafting for all Seasons and the challenge theme this fortnight is Fall Flowers and our sponsor is Fred She Said  with a prize of a $20 GC.

I chose to use the lovely frame with the three sunflowers at the base. I have decoupaged mine and added an extra sunflower each side and filled the centres of each with seed beads though I'm not sure they show up so well in the photo. The verse was one in my collection - not sure were it is from though. The papers are just from my stash but I thought the distressed look of the paper fitted in with the Fall theme.

Hope you will join in our challenge and good luck to you all.

Anything Goes #51 Challenge - Die Cuts/Punches or both

Hello to you all. This fortnights challenge at Anything Goes is to use die cuts and/or punches.

This is another commissioned card, this time from my daughter who wanted a card for her boyfriend as they were celebrating being together for a year. She didn't want anything lovey dovey so we looked at different stamps in my stash and we decided on the Vintage Photo plate from Creative Expressions - available from the Craft Den.

This card is 8 x 8 larger than my usual but to get the effect and utilise the stamps I wanted to use I needed a larger pallet. Oh I do  love doing vintage  and  these stamps so fitted the bill for my daughter's anniversary card.

I particularly like the heart splat which I used to create the background. The filmstrip is one of Tim Holtz's Dies and I backed it with acetate onto which I stamped the silhouette stamps, also from the set.

The photo of my daughter and her boyfriend was taken recently at his brother's wedding. I made it sepia to fit  with the vintage look and framed it with the frame stamp again from the set. I then filled it with glossy accents for a glazed effect and used chain and brads to 'hang' it.

Overall I was very happy with the finished card - I love it when a plan comes together! It was exactly as I envisaged which is unusual for me as normally the end result is nothing like I planned as I continually change my mind along the way! :)

My daughter was thrilled to bits with the card and her boyfriend loved it.

Whoopsi Daisy Lace and Pearls Challenge

Over at Whoopsi Daisy this weeks challenge is to use lace and pearls. This is my card using one of Linnie's sweet images - this one is one of Linnie's freebies isn't she a sweetie?

The papers are from a free CD and the lace is from my local haberdasher. I have made the flower from lace and topped it with a pearl.

My 3 year old granddaughter has just started ballet lessons and this so reminds me of her. They have been taught the correct way to point their toes and she recites "good toes" - toes pointing down and "naughty toes" which are toes pointing up!! She is such a sweetie - just like this image!

This weeks challenge at Whoopsi Daisy is make your own embellishments. I have used an image from Whoopsi Daisy's sheet 29 which includes the parasol. Keep checking the shop site as Linnie often has a freebie of one of her lovely images.

I have used promarkers to colour the images. The flowers are handmade from dies using card, netting and leaf ribbon.

The background paper is a freebie from a craft magazine and I have made the butterflies from seed and bicone beads -  I knew those bead classes would pay off!

Have fun making your own embellishments.

Anything Goes at Anything Goes!

It's anything goes this week over at Anything Goes Challenge Blog. I have been commissioned to make a wedding card and decided to use my new Kanban stamps I purchased last week from Craft Den.

I used the Lattice embossing folder from Creative Expressions (available from Craft Den) to create the textured background. The panel was created using a resist technique by stamping the rose background Kanban stamp, embossing with white embossing powder and then the background was coloured using Distress Ink, Spun Sugar. The heart was made using wire and beads from my stash. The image was stamped on to an oval die-cut and mounted on a scalloped oval die-cut cut from silver miri card. Flowers, ornate corners and pearls were found in my stash and used to finish the card off.

Good luck to all the entrants this fortnight!

Challenges:

simonsaysstampschallenge - Song title or film title as inspiration - Whitney Housten 'I will always love you'.
